Since 2009, AIMA has hosted an annual shipwreck photography competition that aims to showcase and celebrate our rich and diverse maritime heritage.
This year, photographers from all over the world are invited to send us their best photos of any shipwrecks or other underwater cultural heritage located above or below Australian or New Zealand waters.
This year, photographs can be submitted in the following categories:
a. Shipwreck underwater
b. Shipwreck above water
c. Other maritime cultural heritage: anything that’s not a shipwreck - aircraft, jetty, lighthouses, fish traps, landing craft …
d. Macro involving maritime heritage: let’s see the detail!
e. Wildlife and maritime heritage: Any image showing wildlife interacting with our maritime heritage
First prize in each category is $200 and a canvas print of your winning image, plus the opportunity to see your images published in the AIMA calendar for 2016.
This year we are also excited to introduce the Pat Baker Award. Pat Baker has spent his career taking some inspiring images of maritime heritage both in Australia and overseas – now it’s your turn! Send us your best images showcasing maritime cultural heritage from anywhere in the world. This award is open to AIMA members only and the prizes are worth joining AIMA for!
The winner of the Pat Baker Award will win a 4-night Fly Dive Coral Sea adventure courtesy of Mike Ball and 2nd prize is a 1 day charter and two nights accommodation courtesy of Yongala Dive Centre.
Entries open 4 October 2014 and competition closes 15 August 2015.
You don’t have to be a pro, you just have to have a keen eye and a willingness to take a great snap!
